As a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor, I have experience working with adolescents and adults struggling with a variety of challenges including anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, low self-esteem, adjustment to life transitions, parenting issues and other family-related concerns. I approach working with clients from a Strengths-Based perspective, working collaboratively with clients to develop goals and foster well-being by developing increased resilience and empowerment. In this effort, I integrate a variety of evidence-based practices including psychoeducation, Cognitive Behavioral therapy & Acceptance and Commitment therapy. In addition, I am also trained in Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR) to help clients process and heal from trauma in order to thrive. That being said, no technique is more valuable to a client’s progress than building a positive and trusting therapeutic relationship, which remains my priority throughout treatment.
I am a mid-life career changer. After having kids, I decided to take a leap and pursue my dream to help others by earning a Master’s of Science in Counseling and Post Master’s Certificate in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Johns Hopkins University. It wasn’t easy but I am so glad I faced my fears in order to follow my heart. I’m passionate about my work and love engaging with clients to help them gain a sense of self-efficacy & wellbeing! I very much consider myself a life-long learner and take every opportunity to advance my knowledge and skills to become a better practitioner.
I love living in the Annapolis area with my husband, two boys and my sweet little dog, Annie. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with family, walking in nature, listening to podcasts, and reading good books– especially historical fiction. I also love traveling with my family and exploring new places. My favorite spot is Acadia National Park in Maine because of the beautiful hikes, wild blueberries and of course, lobsters!
